Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
Do you complain of bloating and gas after every meal? You may have a valve!
The underlying cause of patients with fibromyalgia, acne rosacea, restless legs, restless bladder, irritable bowel diseases (spastic colon), ulcerative colitis, Crohn's, and chronic fatigue syndrome may be SIBO.
What is Sibo?
While there are billions of bacteria in each milliliter of our large intestine, this number is around hundreds in the small intestine. However, stomach acid decreases and the number of bacteria in the small intestine increases due to reasons such as improper nutrition, stomach medications used, and stomach stasis due to frequent snacks. When there is excessive bacterial proliferation in the small intestine, the epithelial function in this region is also disrupted and The increasing number of bacteria here ferments carbohydrates that we cannot digest, causing excessive gas. In our clinic, we treat our patients from a functional perspective by performing a sibo test.
